The West Virginia State Bar’s Veterans and Military Affairs Committee will be hosting a webinar on Friday, October 30, 2015. The webinar will be live in Beckley and will be broadcast to the Veterans Administration Medical Centers in Clarksburg, Huntington, and Martinsburg. The webinar, which will run from 10:00 – 11:40, has been approved for 2.0 hours of general West Virginia CLE credit. Attendance is FREE but attendees will be asked to stay at the VAMC for one hour after the seminar working directly with veterans who will be scheduled for appointments at each facility between noon and 1:00 p.m. For a list of topics and speakers click here. The 2016 Annual Conference and Meeting of the West Virginia State Bar

Request for Public Comment on the Amendment to the Rules for Admission to the Practice of Law
The Court is requesting public comment on amendments to the Rules for Admission to the Practice of Law. The proposed amendment would permit the temporary practice of law in West Virginia by the attorney spouses of active service members assigned to a permanent duty station in West Virginia. The Court has approved a 60 day comment period to end on December 15, 2015. Any comments must be filed, in writing, with the WV Supreme Court Clerk’s Office.
October 20-29, 2015: The West Virginia State Bar will hold Regional Meetings this fall. These meetings will provide 3.0 Continuing Legal Education credits, including 2 in the areas of ethics and substance abuse. The seminars have only been approved for CLE credit in West Virginia. Lunch will be included at each meeting. Each Regional Meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will last until, approximately, 1:30 p.m. The cost is $100 per person. One of The State Bar’s Officers will attend each meeting.
