Vacancy on the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission
There is an attorney vacancy on the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission. Pursuant to W. Va. Code § 3-10-3a(b), the State Bar Board of Governors shall assist the Governor in filling the vacancy by nominating “no more than twenty nor less than ten best qualified attorneys for appointment to the commission.” No more than four appointed members may be from the same political party. Further, no more than three appointed members of the commission may be residents of the same congressional district. All members of the Commission must be citizens of WV. In light of the current composition of the JVAC, the vacancy must be filled by a non-Democrat (i.e., a Republican, Independent, or other) from either the 1st or 3rd Congressional District. Qualified attorneys interested in applying for a position on this volunteer, non-paid Commission should submit their names, with accompanying resumes and any letters of reference, to Anita R. Pro Hac Vice Changes
Important changes to the West Virginia pro hac vice admission procedures became effective on January 1, 2015. These changes include a new $350 annual fee to be paid by out-of-state lawyers admitted pro hac vice on or before January 1, 2015. Click here to review the September 29, 2014, Order
An implementation Order entered December 12, 2014, requires local counsel, for out-of-state lawyers admitted during the past five years, to contact those counsel to determine whether the annual fee applies. The fee must be paid by the out-of-state lawyer on or before March 31, 2015.

The US District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia is accepting applications for a full-time US Magistrate Judge to serve the Clarksburg and Elkins points of holding court. The term of office is eight years subject to reappointment.
