West Virginia IOLTA Accounts

The West Virginia Bankers Association, the Community Bankers of West Virginia and the West Virginia State Bar have been working collaboratively to address questions created by the implementation of new State Bar Administrative Rule 10 related to the set up and administration of IOLTA accounts.  All three organizations are aware that the new Rule creates some confusions which may have to be addressed on an individual basis.  In the meantime, it is hoped that the attached set of Questions and Answers will answer many of your questions.  If not, please put your question in writing, to the attention of the IOLTA Advisory Committee, in care of Anita Casey, at caseya@wvbar.org, and the question will be addressed at the IOLTA Advisory Committee’s next meeting.  Click here for a copy of the Q and A.  Thank you for your patience and understanding in working through these changes to the Rule.

Help Our Veterans and Military Members AND Get TWO FREE HOURS of CLE Credit

The State Bar’s Veterans and Military Affairs Committee is offering two hours of CLE credit on Monday, November 10, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.  The two hour seminar, addressing veteran’s issues, will be held at Legal Aid of West Virginia’s Charleston office.  The interactive seminar will be broadcast to 11 other Legal Aid offices throughout the State.  Credit for a LIVE presentation will be given.  In exchange for the two hours of credit, all participating attorneys will be asked to spend one hour (from 3:00 to 4:00 on November 10) responding to phone calls from our veterans and military members.  The call in will be similar to the State Bar’s Tuesday Legal Connect.  Pre-registration for the seminar is essential to insure that the Legal Aid office where you plan to attend the seminar has sufficient seating space.
