WVU LAW Class of 2013 Employment Status Needed

Are you a 2013 graduate of the WVU College of Law, or do you have a 2013 grad working for you?  If so, the WVU LAW Career Services Center needs to know the graduate’s employment status as part of the REQUIRED data to be submitted to the ABA.  This information is crucial to issues such as the law school’s continuing accreditation, national rankings, and even future applicants interested in the school’s employment rates.

Closure of United States District Court Courthouse Facilities at Parkersburg, West Virginia The United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia announces the closure of the courthouse facilities at the Parkersburg Division.

30th Judicial Circuit VacancyThe Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission is currently receiving applications to fill the judicial vacancy on the 30th Judicial Circuit serving Mingo County.   Candidates must submit their completed applications by no later than 5:00 p.m. on December 3, 2013. The deadline for submittal of letters of recommendation or comment is December 9, 2013. Applications and instructions are available at www.governor.wv.gov. To contact the Commission regarding the application process, please call Janet Shelton at 304-558-2000. Interviews will be held on December 16, 2013.

Establishment of Unified Electronic Filing SystemRequest for Comments on Proposed Amendments to the West Virginia Trial Court Rules, Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules of Criminal Procedure –

On October 29, 2013, Matt Arrowood, Director of Circuit Clerk Services, presented proposed amendments to the West Virginia Trial Court Rules, West Virginia Rules of Civil Procedure, and Rules of Criminal Procedure, all to establish the Unified Electronic Filing System.
The Court did provisionally approve said amendments, as well as a period of public comment on the proposed amendments. Additions are indicated by underlining. Comments may be filed in writing with the Clerk of this Court on or before

December 30, 2013.

Request for public comment on the Proposed Amendments to the Rules of Procedure for Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings, the Guidelines for Children’s Guardians Ad Litem in Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings, and the required form Guardian Ad Litem Report.

By order entered October 15, 2013, the Court approved a period of public comment on proposed amendments to the Rules of Procedure for Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings, the Guidelines for Children’s Guardians Ad Litem in Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings, and a required form Guardian Ad Litem Report. Comments may be filed, in writing, with the Clerk of Court, on or before January 13, 2014.
