The West Virginia Lawyer Disciplinary Board, End of Practice Committee, announces the completion and approval of Establishing a Succession Plan: A Guide to Protecting your Clients’ Interests in the Event of Your Disability, Retirement, or Death. The Guide provides information on why and how to prepare for a planned, or unplanned, closure of your law practice. The Guide provides checklists and forms, along with suggestions on how to best accomplish a closure of your practice as smoothly as possible for your clients, you and the loved ones you leave behind in the event of your death or disability. The Guide will be posted on the Office of Disciplinary Counsel website at www.wvodc.org and on the State Bar’s website at www.wvbar.org under “For Attorneys” – “Succession Plan”. Questions regarding the Guide should be directed to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel at 304-558-7999.
