The West Virginia Fund for Law in the Public Interest seeks donations to help us fund WVU law students who want to work in summer and full-time jobs with legal aid, the public defender and other WV public interest organizations.
There is good news for our donors. The Fund has been granted permission by the State’s Neighborhood Investment Program to give tax credits to its donors.
Donors who contribute $500 or more get half the donation back in the form of a WV tax credit. This credit can be used by the donor against the donor’s WV personal income tax, corporate net profits tax or business franchise tax.
This is a credit, not a deduction. To illustrate, a person who has a tax bill of $2000 and who makes a $1000 donation can use the resulting $500 tax credit to reduce the donor’s tax bill to $1500. Donations can also be deducted on your federal return as well.
Credits are limited, going fast and are given out on a first-come basis. Call or write us today!
