National Constitution Center Scholar Exchange

National Constitution Center Scholar Exchange

What is the National Constitution Center Scholar Exchange Program?

The West Virginia State Bar is partnering with the National Constitution Center’s Scholar Exchange program to educate middle school and high school students in West Virginia in the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year about the U.S. Constitution.

The Scholar Exchange Program provides lawyers, judges, and constitutional experts to join teachers in their classrooms for 45-minute virtual classes hosted by the National Constitution Center to discuss various constitutional topics with teachers and students from across the country.

With help from the National Constitution Center, the West Virginia State Bar is looking to partner with local educators in West Virginia to have lawyers from the Mountain State speak to their classes about the Constitution.

How Can You Get Involved?

As A Teacher

The National Constitution Center maintains a list of participating scholars and provides communications about upcoming Scholar Exchanges regularly via email. This allows educators to select a presentation time in a class that works best for your schedule. All programming is presented virtually, making hosting a Scholar and the NCC in your classroom streamlined and easy.

The Scholar Exchange Program is a free presentation that provides non-partisan information for students regarding topics like: the Constitution, Articles of the Confederation, the Bill of Rights, civil rights and liberties, and voter rights. Programming is tailored to the grade level of the presentation.

For more information regarding NCC educational opportunities or to sign your class up for a virtual NCC Scholar program please visit: https://constitutioncenter.org/education/live-online-events/peer-to-peer-exchanges

As A Lawyer
Lawyers and professionals that volunteer for the National Constitution Center are referred to as Scholars. As a Scholar for NCC, you will be supported in each class by a member of the National Constitution Center’s Education Team. The NCC moderator takes care of sharing the PowerPoint and facilitating the conversation, as well as providing any additional assistance scholars may require.

Volunteering with the NCC Scholar Program is designed to provide our Scholars with the flexibility they need. Scholars are able to select presentation dates and times that work best with their professional schedules. Scholars always have the option to shadow a class led by another Scholar to see how the program works before addressing a class on their own.

For more information on becoming an NCC Scholar, or information on shadowing a current Scholar please complete the form below.
