A big crowd of more than 170 people are registered to attend the third Lunch and Laughs with a Legal Legend event, which will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013, at the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown. U. S. District Court Judge Irene M. Keeley of Clarksburg will be the honored guest for this “friendly roast” that will begin at 11:30 AM and conclude by 1:00 PM.
WVU College of Law Professor Emeritus Jack Bowman will be serving as the Master of Ceremonies. The “roasters”, who will tell humorous stories about Judge Keeley, are U. S. District Court Chief Judge John P. Bailey (Wheeling), entrepreneur Pat Bibbee (Charleston) and attorney Robert M. Steptoe, Jr. (Bridgeport).
The following distinguished entities have agreed to serve as Sponsors for this excellent endeavor-Jackson Kelly, Kay, Casto and Chaney, McNeer, Highland, McMunn and Varner, Phillips Gardill, Kaiser and Altmeyer, Spilman, Thomas and Battle, Steptoe and Johnson, Tenmile Land, White Law Offices, the WV Bar Foundation, and the WVU President’s Office.
The proceeds will be designated to Judge Keeley’s choice of funding legal clinics for WVU Law School students and for Bar Foundation grants to improve the administration of justice in West Virginia. More than $40,000 has been generated in the past two years.
The cost is $60 per seat with $40 being considered a charitable contribution. There are also Sponsorships available for $2,000 which provide a reserved table with ten seats, recognition before, during and after the event, as well as a charitable contribution in the amount of $1,800.
