Job Description
This role will provide counsel to clients, prospects, and internal team members regarding design and administration of both personal and institutional wealth plans, including personal and corporate trust, investment, and estate accounts in accordance with the Bank’s fiduciary responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Professionally represent the Bank at client and prospect meetings in a consultative role to provide wealth strategy planning for moderate and high net worth clients and prospects
Serve as a resource to and collaborate with all members of the Wealth Management team on existing and perspective clients to include responding to estate related client questions and issues
Assist Wealth and Trust Advisors in the creation and presentation of various estate planning strategies to high net worth clients and prospects
Develop and maintain a public profile as a leader in the estate planning community through the association with other estate planning professionals and organizations
Promote the division’s fiduciary offerings to clients, prospects, and intermediaries throughout the Mid-Atlantic
Develop and conduct internal training and workshops on estate planning and related subjects
Create and prepare estate planning written Executive Summaries for presentation to qualified clients and prospects
Obtain additional estate planning certifications and designations highly recognized in the estate planning industry
Monitor regulatory and ethical issues including new developments, policies, and laws. Communicate changes to clients and the organization
Collaborate with others in interpreting governing instruments and applicable law in order to advise account officers and administrators with respect to distributions, authorities and other matters
Collaborate with others in preparing memoranda of trust for internal use
Collaborate with others to ensure trust policy manuals are maintained current and procedures are designed and implemented to support policies
Collaborate with others and outside counsel in regard to preparation of court filings for judicial settlement and litigation matters
Collaborate with others on managing litigation and report to executive management on such matters including potential exposure and insurance coverage
Collaborate with others to review and/or prepare of the appropriate legal agreements, filings and oversight of the work performed by outside counsel
Collaborate with others on the preparation and oversight of all State and Federal banking examinations for the Wealth Management department
Collaborate with others on the matters relative to Risk Management, Compliance and Audit policies/procedures
Qualifications
Juris Doctor degree required; LLM in taxation highly desired
Admission to the state bar in WV required
Minimum of Five (5) years of working experience in estate planning field required
Demonstrate proficiency and knowledge of trusts and estate law required
Meticulous attention to detail required
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, integrity and ethics required
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills required
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required
Ability to be a creative problem solver with ability to objectively review and challenge and suggest multiple alternatives
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products required
Ability to work outside of normal business hours and travel to client meetings required
