The attorney selected for this position will advise the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Revenue. Oil & Gas Section attorneys represent state client agencies to ensure that Alaska’s vast oil, gas, geothermal, and subsurface energy interests are responsibly managed and revenues from royalties and taxes received. The legal services provided by the attorney in this position include a fascinating mix of client advice, litigation, appellate practice, transactional work, and energy research. Attorneys in the Juneau and Anchorage offices enjoy stunning views of mountains and oceans. If you enjoy dramatic scenery, outdoor activities like skiing, hiking, kayaking, and abundant wildlife, then Alaska is the place for you. Experience and Qualifications: Experience in upstream oil and gas issues, tariffs, property taxes, or federal land use litigation is highly desired. Superior writing and oral communication skills are essential. Experience handling complex discovery matters and independent management of a caseload is also desirable. The attorney must have graduated from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the State of Alaska within 10 months of appointment. Some travel may be required. Salary and Benefits: Salary depends on experience and ranges from $87,282–$139,542 annually. 37.5-hour work week. 12 paid holidays. Eligibility for part-time teleworking. Generous leave accrual.
