Assistant Attorney General-DHHR The Office of the West Virginia Attorney General is seeking an attorney to represent the DHHR in juvenile abuse and neglect matters before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. Attorneys in this division manage a fast-moving appeals docket—researching and drafting merits briefs, writs, and motions in the WVSCA. Attorneys also have the opportunity to present oral argument before the Court. Attorneys in this division have significant responsibility over their individual dockets. Successful applicants will be strong researchers, clear and organized writers, and be detail-oriented (able to manage litigation deadlines and complex case records). This division is also highly collaborative; with attorneys editing each other’s work and assisting with case strategy and argument preparation. The position is located in Charleston, WV; however, other locations in the state will be considered if it is feasible. Prior abuse and neglect and/or appellate litigation practice is preferred. Candidates must have an active WV license or be eligible for admission.
