Glenville State College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in criminal justice Studies to complement the research and teaching areas of the department, to begin Fall 2021.

Founded in 1872 and located in the heart of scenic, central West Virginia, Glenville State College is dedicated to providing a personalized education to approximately 1500 students, primarily from West Virginia.  Many of the College’s students are first-generation and Pell-grant eligible.  The College’s campus embraces the unique perspectives of its students, faculty and staff and provides its students with opportunities to thrive in its vibrant setting in the center of the Appalachian Mountains.  The College’s mission is to prepare and inspire students to be thoughtful, productive, engaged, and responsible citizens who contribute to the well-being of their community, state, nation, and world guides GSC’s program and service development.  More information on Glenville State College can be found at www.glenville.edu.  Glenville State College is proud of its commitment to diversity.

Glenville State offers more than 30 academic programs and awards both associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. The Criminal Justice program is one of the largest programs on campus, with more than 150 students enrolled in the major. It is regarded as the top degree and program in the state by CorrectionalOfficer.org.

Glenville State College’s Office of Workforce & Community Development is also part of a United States Department of Education experimental site initiative (Second Chance Pell) and has delivered selected courses at both FCI-Gilmer and Huttonsville Correctional Center since 2016.

The successful applicant is expected to:

·         Teach the equivalent of 12-15 hours (4-5 courses) of undergraduate courses in criminal justice per semester

·         Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance

·         Actively contribute to departmental and college assessment, committee and service activities

·         Support recruitment and retention events

·         Participate in professional development activities

·         Cultivate and maintain teaching and research excellence

·         Have an ongoing interest in curriculum innovation

·         Contribute to both online and on-campus course delivery
