The purpose of the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection Committee is to review documented claims of losses to clients caused by either the alleged dishonest conduct of a West Virginia licensed lawyer or by the lawyers’ failure to provide the work for which the attorney has been paid. The Fund is not an insurer of the attorney or the quality of the attorney’s work, nor is the Fund a guarantor of any result in the Claimant’s underlying case. It serves as a last resort of reimbursement after efforts have been made to recoup monies from the attorney, the attorney’s insurance carrier, or through a Court proceeding.
