KELLER NOTICE TO STATE BAR MEMBERS

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT 
The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit is seeking applications for a fourteen-year appointment as U. S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of West Virginia at Wheeling.  Questions should be directed to James N. Ishida, Circuit Executive, U. S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit atvacancy@ca4.uscourts.gov.  Applications must be completed
and received by July 31, 2019.

STUDENT ART WORK DISPLAY
The State Bar is pleased to announce the exhibition of the art work of Saint Joseph Central Catholic High School students at the State Bar Center.  The students’ oil on canvas display of 17 pieces will be available for viewing until the end of December 2019.   Thank you is extended to the talented students and their art instructor, Sherri Holtzapfel, for lending the art work to The State Bar.

The West Virginia State Bar Training Center 
is now open for reservations during 
normal business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
In addition to the State Bar’s conference rooms being available to Bar members for mediations, client meetings and depositions, the renovation of the State Bar’s Training Center has been completed and is now available to Bar members for lunch meetings, seminars, and out-of-office training sessions for attorneys, their staff, and/or large groups of clients. The room is located on the lower level of the State Bar Center and will accommodate up to 35 attendees. If an attendee is unable to use stairs from the first floor to the lower level, the attendee may drive down the driveway on the far side of the Bar Center and enter the building at the bottom of the driveway.  In addition to a kitchen area that can be used for food service, there are handicap accessible restrooms available on the lower level.  Any Bar member who wants to reserve the Training Center or a conference room, may contact the West Virginia State Bar at 304-553-7220.  Reserving a room is free to Bar members.

AMENDMENT TO THE WEST VIRGINIA RULES OF JUVENILE PROCEDURE
By order entered on June 19, 2019, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals approved a 30-day period of public comment on the proposed amendment to the West Virginia Rules of Juvenile Procedure.  The public comment period closes on July 19, 2019. Comments are to be filed in writing with the Clerk of Court.

RULES OF PROCEDURE FOR CHILD ABUSE 
AND NEGLECT PROCEEDINGS 
By order entered on June 19, 2019, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals approved a 30-day period of public comment on amendments to the West Virginia Rules of Procedure for Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings. The public comment period closes on July 19, 2019.  Comments are to be filed in writing with the the Clerk of Court.

ADOPTION OF THE WEST VIRGINIA RULES OF 
PRACTICE AND PROCEDURE FOR FINANCIAL EXPLOITATION CIVIL PROCEEDINGS
By order entered on June 4, 2019, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals approved a 45-day period of public comment on the proposed adoption of the West Virginia Rules of Practice and Procedure for
Financial Exploitation Civil Proceedings. The public comment period closes on July 22, 2019. Comments are to be filed in writing with the Clerk of Court. To review the proposed rules, click here.

REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT ON 
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO RULES RELATING TO ELECTRONIC FILING:  TRIAL COURT RULE 11.02, TRIAL COURT RULE 15A, AND RULE 6 OF THE RULES OF PRACTICE AND PROCEDURE FOR FAMILY COURTS
By order entered on June 10, 2019, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals approved a 45-day period of public comment on a proposed amendment to Rule 6 of the West Virginia Rules of Procedure for Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings.  The public comment period closes on July 26, 2019. Comments are to be filed in writing with the Clerk of Court. To review the proposed rules, click here.

REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT ON
