WEST VIRGINIA STATE BAR 2020 ANNUAL MEETING
Complimentary Public Screening of the movie 
DARK WATERS
April 5, 2020
The Bar is pleased to announce that it has secured the movie
Dark Waters for a complimentary screening during the 2020 Annual Meeting.   Dark Waters will be shown on Sunday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenbrier Resort’s theater.  Harry Deitzler, former Bar President and counsel for the plaintiffs, will give a brief presentation prior to the start of the movie and answer questions afterward.
AND THE WINNERS ARE . . . .
We are proud to announce that the West Virginia State Bar beat the Arkansas Bar Association, as the overall winner of the
Clown Cartoon Contest, with the caption “Your Honor, may I approach the witness?” Congratulations to James W. Davis, Jr. and Thomas Kirk who submitted the identical caption and are the winners.  An honorable mention goes to Todd Mount with his entry “Permission to approach the witness?“

ADOPTION OF PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO 
THE ADMINISTRATIVE RULES FOR THE MAGISTRATE

Two-Year CLE Reporting Period Ends June 30, 2020
The CLE reporting is to be completed electronically using the web-based membership portal at www.mywvbar.org.  A minimum of 24 credits, including at least 3 credits on legal ethics, law office management, attorney well-being or elimination of bias must be reported.  Below are some basic helpful hints to get you started.
  • Make sure you know your username and password for the online portal.  You can request a new password from the login screen.
  • Check your current CLE transcript for accuracy.  Once you are logged in to the portal, go to the “CLE” tab and choose “My CLE Transcript” from the dropdown menu.
  • If you have already attended/completed a CLE course for the 2018-2020 reporting period – report it now and do not wait until the reporting deadline.
  • Confirm any pending attendance credits that have been reported by a CLE provider and appear on the bottom of your transcript waiting for your approval.

Facility Details:  Due to limited space at the State Bar Center, live registration is limited to 35 attendees at The State Bar Center.  There is unlimited capacity for attendees attending via video conferencing.  If you do not receive a confirmation of registration, you will only be able to attend this seminar via video conference.  
If you are unable to use the stairs from the first floor to the lower level, please drive down the driveway on the left-side of the Bar Center and enter the building at the bottom of the driveway.  There are also handicap accessible restrooms available.  If you need other assistance, please contact the State Bar 304-553-7220, in advance of the meeting, so arrangements can be made.

CLE:    8.9 hours – including 1.1 credits in law office management.

West Virginia State Bar’s 2020 Annual Meeting
Location:   The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, WV
CLE:    6.5 hours including 4.5 ethics/law office management/attorney wellbeing/elimination of bias.  (Monday, April 6 – 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
Cost:    $150 – CLE Program
A block of hotel rooms are reserved at The Greenbrier Resort, White Sulpher Springs, and The Hampton Inn, Lewisburg, at a discounted rate.  To receive the discounted rate, inform The Greenbrier or Hampton Inn that you are attending the West Virginia State Bar’s event and use Code WVSB2020 when making your reservation.
