STATE BAR WEBSITE UPGRADES
The State Bar website will be undergoing upgrades during the week of January 6, 2020.  During the time the upgrades are being implemented, Bar members may experience some delays accessing www.wvbar.org.   The State Bar Membership Portal will continue to be available during the upgrade time period and members may  login at www.mywvbar.org.   If you have questions or concerns during the upgrade, please contact Mike Mellace at mellacem@wvbar.org.

 STATE BAR REGIONAL MEETING SURVEY
The West Virginia State Bar holds 10 regional meetings throughout the state in October covering a wide variety of topics and providing 3.0 hours of legal education credits. The purpose of our annual regional meetings is to promote regional networking opportunities for our members and provide relevant continuing legal education topics relating to the practice of law in West Virginia. We would like your feedback on how we can improve our annual regional meetings to make sure that we are accommodating all of our members in the best possible way.  Please complete the survey below to help us improve our regional meetings.  
The deadline to complete the survey is December 23, 2019
TOYS FOR TOTS
The West Virginia State Bar’s Veterans and Military affairs Committee would like to thank everyone who supported this year’s Toys for Tots toy drive. Because of your generosity, the State Bar’s large conference room was filled with thousands of toys. The Marines, who came to transport the toys from The Bar to the Reserve Center, for sorting and distribution, filled one box-truck to the top. They were excited with the legal community’s generosity and remarked – “Wow,” “Amazing,” and “We should have brought a bigger truck.” Again, a very warm thank you to each of you. Because of you, a child will receive a gift this year.
 
Nominations for Citizen Soldier, Young Lawyer, 
and Mentor of the Year must be received 
no later than noon on Monday, February 10, 2020.
 
Citizen Soldier Nominations:
The 2020 Citizen Soldier Award will be presented at the 2020 State Bar Annual Meeting. To obtain information regarding the awards process Click here.
 
Young Lawyer of the Year Nominations:

PROBATE LAW CLE
Free & Live Seminar/Webinar
Host:  The WV State Bar Probate Law Committee
Location:  The State Bar Center, Large Conference Room, Charleston, West Virginia and via video conference.
Speakers:  1 to 2 pm – James E. White, Jr. – “Starting Probate and WV Probate Documents”
2 to 3 pm – Christopher J. Winton – “Ancillary Administration”
3 to 4 pm – Joshua S. Rogers – “Handling Claims of Creditors in Probate.”
CLE:  3 hours
Facility Details:  Due to limited space at the State Bar Center, live registration is limited to 35 attendees at The State Bar Center.  There is unlimited capacity for attendees attending via video conferencing.  If you do not receive a confirmation of registration, you will only be able to attend this seminar via video conference.  
If you are unable to use the stairs from the first floor to the lower level, please drive down the driveway on the left-side of the Bar Center and enter the building at the bottom of the driveway.  There are also handicap accessible restrooms available.  If you need other assistance, please contact the State Bar 304-553-7220, in advance of the meeting, so arrangements can be made.

West Virginia State Bar’s 2020 Annual Meeting
Location:   The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, WV
CLE:    6 hours (Monday, April 6, 2020 – 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
Cost:    $150 – CLE Program
A block of hotel rooms are reserved at The Greenbrier Resort, White Sulpher Springs, and The Hampton Inn, Lewisburg, at a discounted rate.  To receive the discounted rate, inform The Greenbrier or Hampton Inn that you are attending the West Virginia State Bar’s event and use Code WVSB2020 when making your reservation.  
The Greenbrier Resort – $189 per night + resort fees, historic preservation fee, and applicable taxes (Nights of April 3-6, 2020).  Reservations: 855-441-2078. Mention Code WVSB2020.
