This month’s MoreThanALawyer story comes from Williamson-based attorney Jim Pajarillo whose love of music is transforming his community with @The Art Brigade: #LoveWilliamson. Jim was nominated by Attorney Teresa Charolette McCune
************************ Like many in our profession, Jim Pajarillo has a love of the arts and particularly, live music. After living in California for 17 years, Jim returned to his roots to practice law in his hometown of Williamson, WV. He brought with him his passion for the arts and soon helped create The Art Brigade, promoting, supporting, and celebrating the arts in the Tug Valley Region. Through the Art Brigade and Jim’s efforts, Williamson has seen Pop Up Art Galleries, monthly jazz nights, a shadow cast performance of Rocky Horror Picture Show, murder mystery dinners and monthly Open Mic Nights at Starters Sports Bar in downtown Williamson. Jim was also instrumental in forming WillCon, Williamson’s annual Pop Culture Convention with more than 3,000 in attendance last year. Jim is a board member of the Tug Valley Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, promoting seasonal festivals, Dirt Days, SpookFest, the Love Williamson Celebration and the upcoming Williamson Pepperoni Roll Festival. Jim’s work in the arts has resulted in his becoming a West Virginia Cohort for the AIR Institute of Berea College and the recipient of the “Star Change Maker” award from the organization Create Your State. The picture below is from Classical Pianist Miki Sawada’s tour stop in Williamson where more than 100 folks came to listen to his music.
It’s fair to say that Jim’s return to his hometown has resulted in a much livelier music and art scene for the area. Thanks, Jim, for being more than a Lawyer!
